Alissa Barr is a piano and music theory teacher from Martensville, Sk. Teaching piano since 2008, Alissa loves watching students develop a love of music and music literacy. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan and enjoys teaching students of all ages.
Music has been a key part of Alissa’s life for as long as she can remember. Beginning her lessons at the age of 3 under the instruction of her mom, Sherry Hildebrandt, A.R.C.T., she enjoyed living in a home filled with music. She continues to work closely with Sherry’s studio, planning joint recitals, events, and lessons, and her continued mentorship is an invaluable resource.
In 2011, Alissa completed her Level 9 certificate through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Since then, Alissa has had the privilege to perform and compete with Level 10 repertoire at various events and festivals, including the provincial music festival. She has also completed history and harmony lessons with teacher, examiner, and adjudicator Heather Waldner.
Alissa has always had a heart for teaching, and began sharing her love of music through piano teaching in 2008. She loves the opportunity that one-on-one lessons provides, allowing instruction to be catered to the needs of each student. In 2017, she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Education. During her time at university she focused on early elementary education, and she enjoys applying her knowledge and experience into the piano lesson setting.
